September 3, 2024 to September 30, 2024
Cost: $10 to $40

Direct Questions to: Mrs. Angela Yonker ([email protected])

Open to all 5th Graders, the goal of this club is to teach students how to successfully plan and complete their nightly homework assignments independently. They will be expected to use their planners to identify homework and then set time limits for each assignment. We’ll take turns deciding the order of completion and then a timer will be set according to the plan. Mrs. Yonker will be available to check over completed assignments, keep students on-task, and to answer questions, but she will not be able to provide one-on-one tutoring. If a student finishes an assignment early he/she will move onto the next assignment and if all assignments are completed before 4:00 they will spend the remainder of time reading independently.

The club will be offered Mondays through Thursdays on a monthly basis, starting in September.  Students participating would still need to take part in dismissal, but would then head back inside with Mrs. Yonker to Room 5A. We would begin at 3:10 and end at 4:00.  Fifth grade students are expected to do between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes of homework. By participating in the homework hour, they should only have 20 minutes of reading left to complete at home.

The monthly cost is $10 total for one day a week, $20 total for two days a week,
$30 total for three days a week, and $40 total for four days a week.

If you are interested in participating, please download the form below and return to the school office by August 30.
