Kindergarten Curriculum

Kindergarten Mission Statement

Our mission is to meet the spiritual, social, emotional and academic need of every child. We provide a faith filled, loving and safe environment. Each child is special in God's eyes and ours.
Religion Subject Icon
We use the We Believe series to guide but not limit our religious curriculum. The children will learn all about the mass, how to pray, how God wants us to love Him and each other. We will also follow the liturgical year as we celebrate our love for Jesus with the saints and each other. The children will enjoy stories, songs, art, science and social studies that help deepen our connection to our Catholic faith.
Communication Arts Subject Icon
Children have a lot to say and share. We are here to make sure they learn to use lots of different ways to express themselves. They will listen to, read and respond to literacy in every genre there is! The children especially enjoy writing in their journals and then reading their entries to the class. Children in kindergarten also love to write their own books. Usually by the third quarter, the children are already communicating independently by writing letters, making lists and reading to each other.
Social Studies Icon
Social Studies and Science are covered in thematic units within religion, literature and hands on experiences. The children will learn to identify problems and devise ways to solve them. We enjoy creating plays, art projects and building things that relate to the topics of study.
Math Subject Icon
Who likes to play games? Kindergarten students will enjoy many math games in our math workshops this year. We begin with basic counting, one to one correspondence and then gradually build up to basic functions. By the end of the year, the children will be able to count to a hundred by ones, twos, fives and tens. They will be able to count backwards from twenty. They will learn to write number words such as one, two, three and first, second and third. By the end of kindergarten the students will be able to write and solve basic addition and subtraction problems. We love math in kindergarten!
